The Horror, the Horror

If it weren't tragic enough that I was watching The Celebrity Apprentice last night, the episode revolved around Crocs and was two hours long. Apparently, the Crocs people have started up a program whereby one recycles their old Crocs into...new Crocs which are then donated to imposed upon suffering Third World children, just in case the latter don't have enough problems. And just in case people in the Third World don't hate the West enough. When I first heard that Crocs were being recycled, I hoped they were being recycled into something other than Crocs, something more beneficial to mankind, such as rubber buttons or plastic soup or Barbie dolls. Instead, starving children from Honduras to Bangladesh to Eritrea will romp about the Old Navy sweatshops and garbage dumps wearing brightly coloured monstrosities. At least the sight of the Crocs might keep the rats away.

I'm hoping the Third World children will have the good sense to go barefoot instead.

Ray, so happy (in an odd sort of way) to know I'm not that show's ONLY viewer. Who do you predict will win?

Hahaha, *chortle* I HATE CROCS too. Too funny, this post.

I am torn between my hatred of Crocs and my knowledge that many third-world people would wear Crocs if it meant they could live in the US. But yes -- they should go barefoot rather than live in poverty AND wear Crocs.

If given a choice between going barefoot (and risking cuts and subsequently disease) and wearing brightly colored Crocs, I think I'd wear the Crocs. However, I do think that the folks over at TOMS shoes (http://www.tomsshoes.com/) have the right idea: they've fashioned a huarache style shoe indigenous to South America and market it here in the US as a comfort flat. For every shoe bought, one is donated to a child in a third world country.

I would not wear Crocs either. I thought they were pratical shoes for Nurses. Imagine my confusion when this odd fad took off. I thought there was a Nursing convention in town!

As for Celebrity Apprentice. I enjoy the show. It is pure mindless entertainment. No one is pretending that it is reality. Having said that I have missed the last two episodes or maybe it is just that I have missed two. I did not see Gene get fired, I thought he was a riot. Omaraso, she is either a great actress or truly stupid. She is a great example of someone that just doesn't get it.

Who will win? Not sure I'll have to tune in this week and see who is still on it.

Celebrity Apprentice is the first Apprentice season that I actually enjoy, possibly because Donald Trump is too afraid of offending "celebrities" to try to dominate the show with his overbearing assholish persona.

I was pulling for Gene Simmons, but he's gone. Piers Morgan is my current favourite, but he's on the chopping block. I think people will be afraid to vote off Tito Ortiz or Lennox Lewis. But I think the producers secretly want to reward Omarosa or Marilu Henner.

At this stage, though, I think Carol Alt is the favourite to win.

Cripes, I don't believe I spend so much time thinking about this tripe.

I liked Gene, and Vinnie. Now that they're gone, my personal favourites are Tito (he seems decent) and Trace (strong, silent type). But yes, I think Carol might win, or Piers.
As long as stupid Nely (who the hell *is* she?) or Omarosa Bin Laden don't win.

Raywat, I laughed out loud when I read the first paragraph of your comments. Trump certainly has toned it down. But hell it's not that it really matters. He is not stuck with one of these folks for a year and having to pay them to boot!

I really enjoyed season 1. I thought it had some good players and if you payed attention you could learn a thing or two. Then it went all Hollywood drama and I stopped watching.

In the end, I just cannot commit to any TV show. For me to show up once a week at the same time on time I want more than just the hope of a laugh.
