What Does Absence Do? A Study of Two Felines
With Orloff, it makes his heart grow fonder. Since returning from Guatemala, I can't get away from him. I fell asleep on the couch the other night, and woke up to feel quite a weight on my stomach. I looked down, and this is what I saw. It is like he has decided if he just plants his nearly 20 pound self on me whenever possible, I'll never leave again.
After another nap, this is what I woke up to see! "I love you, human. Never leave again!"

And of course, typing is a chore with a beast on your lap, as he pretty much always is these days. Can't wait for him to settle down and realize I'm not going anywhere.
But the impact of my absence on Pushkin has been decidedly different. No lap attacks, no naptime with the human. Just this look. As if she is saying, "Oh...YOU? Were you away? I hadn't noticed."
