Carnivale of the Couture: Gilmore Edition
This week's fashion question concerns the Manolo's favourite topic, shoes:
Well, that's easy, at least in fall, winter and spring. I'm a big fan of saddle shoes.

(Bass Shoes)
They are time-honoured, comfortable, sturdy (depending on the brand), cute and they go with a lot. It first occurred to me to get a pair while watching Gilmore Girls, since Rory is so fond of them.
As for summer footwear, that's a bit different. I have a couple of pairs of flats -- one a pair of mules -- that I got at Winners this spring, that get me through the quotidian. But I have no equivalent of the saddle shoe, no trusty go-with-all, traditional, wear-every-year shoe, that I count on for the warmer weather.
While it's easy to get caught up in the latest trends and the newest offerings from the hottest designers, there are times when even the most devout fashionista will opt for function over fashion.
So ... it's not a big night out, there's nary a potential partner in sight, and there is no office dress code. Which shoes do you reach for when you're only dressing to impress yourself?
