The Right Shoe Matters
A man in Egypt discovered why fashion is important.
Admittedly, it's probably difficult for men to find women's shoes that fit them. But this may have been one of those very rare cases where a pair of unisex shoes, however ugly, may have come in handy. Are Doc Martens or Birkenstocks available at the Gamal Abdul Nasser Outlet Mall?
(Thanks to Mr. Eclectic.)
An Egyptian man who routinely donned the full Islamic veil to visit his mistress incognito was tipped off by his unfeminine shoes in the Cairo metro's women-only carriage.
Camouflaged under a head-to-toe black niqab to spare his illegitimate partner her neighbours' reprobation, the 30-year-old student eventually met his own doom after accidentally revealing suspiciously clumpy footwear.
An alarmed passenger on board the carriage screamed for security at a central Cairo underground station and the impostor was unmasked.

No, but wearing ugly shoes is better than spending time in an Egyptian prison!

I dunno...I've ridden in the women-only carriage of the Cairo metro many times, and I've seen a bazillion pairs of clumpy, frumpy shoes sticking out from under various robes/gowns. I'm afraid Cairo is not known for its stylish, delicate shoes. When you're walking miles and miles each day through heaven-knows-what in the streets, you don't see many pairs of quality heels. And who could afford them?! These babies must have been incredibly clumpy to have gotten that much attention...maybe something along these lines.
